Objectives

- Identify significant European explorers.
- Examine the advances in cartography (mapmaking) that make these voyages possible.
- Discuss the exchange of culture and ideas between Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas and its positive and negative effects.
- Explain the economic changes in Europe.
- Trace the origins of modern capitalism - the influence of mercantilism and importance of a free-market economy.
